How to design an Herb Garden?

Posted by admin on Jul 8, 2010 under garden design

What is the best way to design a herb garden?

Plan your garden before planting it. Consider the herbs you want to plant and what you’ll use them for. Herbs grow in various ways; some herbs, such as thyme, are low growing and spreading while others, such as parsley, grow in clumps. Mint is a taller, vigorously growing herb which often needs to be contained. Herbs are considered either annuals or perennials and many will bloom just like more traditional flowers.

List or draw your garden on paper first. If you know the size of your garden you’ll easily be able to choose the appropriate plants. Likewise, if you have certain herbs in mind you’ll able to plan the right size garden.

Gino designed a garden for his rectangular backyard. The design he drew on paper is 6 inches wide. The width of his backyard is thirty feet. If his drawing is to scale, and his backyard is forty feet long, how many inches long is his drawing? Write a proportion using words. Then, use the proportion to calculate the drawing length. Show your work.

Go do you homework and figure the answer yourself. Stop cheating by asking people here.

Were to find garden design on a budget?

Posted by admin on Jul 2, 2010 under garden design

I want to redesign a medium sized garden, such as removing all the lawn and re planting trees, etc… The most important help I want is with a completely new layout, where and how to find an economical way of doing it, is there such thing as a garden centre who can help with advice and a computerized design perhaps? The garden is in Gloucestershire.

I recently did some new landscape projects myself ,and found a great source of information and ideas for creating various types of layouts and was able to complete the projects with out breaking the bank and produce a fabulous garden with some trees as well. Check it out here

which areas in the outskirts of London do people use Garden or Garden Design services?

Posted by admin on Jun 2, 2010 under garden design

and which kinds of things they do and how often?

is this a growing thing similar to "Garden or Landscape" services in the USA? or how different?

is this a good business to have you think in future? how often they actually mow the lawns there too for clients? and how long been this way?

which equipment would be needed to start a business like this if you can explain

thanks for your answers!
BTW, HAS THIS EVER BEEN A POPULAR BUSINESS IN LONDON? WHEN, WHY IF SO HAS IT WAXED AND WANED?

In this economic climate, only genuinely rich people can afford hired help. People living in ordinary suburban properties look after their own gardens, or concrete it over if they’re not gardening type of people

Hi. You might try some of Better Homes and Garden’s designs (see website below). They have plant finder on their site as well to help with size, location, color, etc.

Is there any free software to design home garden with fish pond?

Posted by admin on May 28, 2010 under garden design

You might try to pick up a copy of "Ponds USA and Water Gardens" at your local Home Depot or Lowe’s or your local pet store. They have tones of ideas on how to build a pond. Many of the advertisers have web addresses and will send your free catalogs or have down loadable plans.. I haven’t seen any software for plans but again you might try the builder supply stores. They usually have small DIY book sections for building all sorts of great ideas. Try the local fish stores that sell quality Koi and you might find just what you need.
Good luck! I would love to see pictures when your done! I want to build my own some time soon.. just haven’t had the $$ to start what I want! lol

Here’s a few places that look like a great places to start!

http://www.atlanticfountains.com <<< say they have software but $$$$

Does anyone know of a good home and garden design software? ask?

Posted by admin on May 25, 2010 under garden design

I use sweethome 3d but it’s only okay, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good free download for some home design software… Sweethome 3d does not do landscape design, I would like one that does both, but I don’t really want to pay for it.

Try and look up Instant Architect it’s free and might be what you are looking for or if you want to google it just type in free home and garden design and pick from a list.
